Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her return to cinemas with Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a drama inspired by the courage shown during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The makers have officially locked June 12 as the film’s theatrical release date.
Unlike conventional stories centered on security forces or high-profile rescue missions, the film shifts the spotlight to the often-overlooked heroes inside a hospital during the crisis. From nurses and ward assistants to cleaners, lift operators, guards, and administrative staff, the narrative explores how ordinary individuals displayed extraordinary resilience while chaos unfolded around them.
Speaking about the project, Kangana Ranaut said the film celebrates silent courage rather than larger-than-life heroism. She described the story as a tribute to humanity, sacrifice, and unity, adding that the film reflects a deeper form of patriotism rooted in responsibility and selfless action during one of Mumbai’s darkest nights.
Director Manoj Tapadia shared that the film combines emotional storytelling with the intensity of a thriller. According to him, the heart of the narrative lies in showcasing compassion and bravery under extreme pressure, particularly highlighting women who made critical life-saving decisions during the attacks.
Presented by pen studios and backed by producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada, the film also features Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, Aditya Mishra, and Zahid Khan in pivotal roles.
With its focus on unsung heroes and emotionally charged storytelling, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata aims to bring a lesser-known chapter of the 2008 attacks to the big screen through a human and deeply personal lens.
