In a landmark moment for Indian cinema and music, Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman performed live for the first time at the iconic Attari Border during the Beating Retreat Ceremony on June 7. The special event, Jai Ho – A Musical Salute to the Bravehearts, was held in tribute to the Border Security Force (BSF) and India’s armed forces.

Joined by filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, actors Vedang Raina and Sharvari, along with the team of upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, the event connected the film’s themes of love, longing, and Partition-era memories with the symbolic significance of the border.

Rahman opened the evening with “Chanda Suraj Lakhon Taare” and later presented songs from the film, featuring performances by singers including Mohit Chauhan. The emotional evening concluded with the iconic “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” drawing an enthusiastic response from thousands gathered at the JCP Stadium.

Speaking at the event, Imtiaz Ali described the performance as a tribute to the national spirit and the brave personnel guarding the country’s borders. Main Vaapas Aaunga, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina, is set to release in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
