Anamika Khanna unveiled her latest couture collection, Moonlit Palace, at the inaugural show of Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York, an FDCI initiative. Held at the iconic Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, the presentation brought the designer’s craft-led philosophy to life through a seamless interplay of light, movement, and atmosphere.
Set against a space bathed in soft, silvered lighting that evoked the interiors of a palace at night, the show opened with an understated yet luminous mood. The opening looks moved with quiet grace, featuring fluid drapes that echoed themes of ritual and inheritance. Jewellery was integrated into the garments themselves, becoming an intrinsic part of each silhouette rather than a finishing detail.
The collection unfolded through distinct movements, each inspired by a different cultural narrative. The second movement drew from Barmer, a town closely connected to Anamika Khanna’s roots, celebrating its rich textile heritage through vibrant colours, intricate mirrorwork, and gold foil detailing. Developed in collaboration with women’s craft communities in Barmer, the textiles were reimagined through hand-painting, embroidery, and dyeing, bringing traditional craftsmanship into a contemporary couture language.
The third movement, titled Kalighat, was inspired by Kolkata’s riverside art community. Here, silhouettes became softer and more fluid, reflecting the grace and quiet stillness of the artistic tradition. The pace of the presentation slowed, allowing the intricate craftsmanship and movement of every garment to take centre stage.
As the show progressed, lighting played an increasingly important role, highlighting the dialogue between texture, shadow, embroidery, and metallic threadwork. Every movement reinforced the collection’s central idea of craftsmanship as a living, evolving practice rather than a static tradition. The presentation concluded by bringing together both traditional and contemporary influences, creating a full-circle narrative that mirrored the opening sequence.
At its core, Moonlit Palace explored clothing as a keeper of stories, carrying traces of history, identity, and craftsmanship across generations. Imagining a lost civilisation as something continually rediscovered through craft and adornment, the collection celebrated the women whose labour, intuition, and artistry have preserved India’s cultural narratives over time.

It offered an opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship that defines Indian couture while exploring new ways of expressing it. I have always been interested in how craft can remain deeply rooted yet feel entirely contemporary, and it was a privilege to share that perspective as we opened this season’s showcase.”

He added that the special showcase of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 alongside Anamika Khanna’s couture beautifully brought together precision, artistry, and innovation while reinforcing the brand’s lifestyle-led vision.
Sunil Sethi, Chairman, FDCI, described the Hyderabad showcase at Taj Falaknuma Palace as a significant milestone, marking the first time Hyundai India Couture Week opened outside Delhi. He noted that Anamika Khanna’s deep-rooted connection to Indian craft and her ability to push creative boundaries made her the ideal designer to inaugurate this new chapter.
Moonlit Palace also marks the beginning of an ongoing exploration for the house, with Anamika Khanna signalling future collaborations with regional Indian craft traditions in the seasons ahead.
