Janhvi Kapoor turned heads and hearts as she walked into the special screening of her upcoming film ‘Homebound’, wearing a saree that once belonged to her late mother and legendary actress Sridevi. The navy blue saree, adorned with intricate golden embroidery.
The ‘Homebound’ actress paired the timeless drape with a chic black velvet blouse, a sleek bun, statement earrings, and a bold choker necklace a look that was both a tribute and a showstopper.
But the screening was about more than just glamour. The event marked a proud moment for Indian cinema, as ‘Homebound’ has been officially selected as India’s entry to the Oscars 2026, vying for a spot in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khattar, and Vishal Jethwa in powerful lead roles. It tells the story of two childhood friends from a rural North Indian village, who chase the dream of becoming police officers in a bid to reclaim their dignity only to face inner conflict as desperation threatens to break their bond.
The film has already made waves globally, with screenings at prestigious festivals like the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
Now, with Oscar dreams and a nationwide release on September 26, Homebound is all set to become one of the most talked-about Indian films of the year.
