The team of Viyah Kartare Da turned up the entertainment quotient at a lively press conference held at PVR Cinemas in the capital. Lead stars Gippy Grewal and Nimrat Khaira interacted with the media, offering a sneak peek into their upcoming Punjabi family comedy.
Directed by Sameer Kang, the film follows a young man determined to marry the girl of his dreams despite family opposition and the hurdle of unemployment. Packed with humorous twists and wedding chaos, the story promises wholesome entertainment.
Responding to a question about playing a police officer, Gippy said his character adds pride and dignity to the force. Nimrat kept things candid and cheerful, joking that while budgets can be managed at Punjabi weddings, handling relatives is the real challenge. She also laughed off the idea of marrying someone like Kartare in real life, saying she would prefer a loving and caring partner.
Reflecting on the evolution of Punjabi cinema, Gippy recalled the modest promotional days of Carry On Jatta and noted how the industry has now grown globally, with collaborations involving Dharma Productions helping expand its reach. He emphasized that Punjabi films continue to shine for their clean, family-friendly appeal.
The film also stars Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Gurpreet Ghuggi, B. N. Sharma, Hardeep Gill, Inamulhaq and Rupinder Rupi in key roles.
Produced by Dharma Productions, Humble Motion Pictures and Pitara Talkies, Viyah Kartare Da is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 27 February 2026.
