Aamir Khan is back in an unexpected, gritty avatar—and this time, he’s stepping into the high-voltage world of Rajinikanth’s upcoming action entertainer Coolie. The makers, Sun Pictures, dropped the first look of Aamir’s character ‘Dahaa’ on July 3, and it’s already sending waves across social media.
Presented in striking black and white, the poster shows Aamir Khan puffing on a pipe, sporting a rugged vest and a tattooed arm—signalling a raw, brooding persona unlike any of his recent roles. While he plays a special cameo in the film, his presence as ‘Dahaa’ seems set to leave a lasting impression.
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, features an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Upendra. The film will hit theatres on August 14, 2025, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend, and is poised for a major box office clash with Ayan Mukerji’s War 2. It will release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, with IMAX screens promising a larger-than-life experience.
With Aamir Khan stepping into this gritty universe and Rajinikanth leading the charge, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
