Disney has officially announced Ice Age: Boiling Point as the sixth installment in the long-running animated franchise. The announcement was made during the Destination D23 fan event held in Orlando on Saturday, with the film set to release in theatres on February 5, 2027, as reported by Variety.
Described as a “dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure,” the new film will follow Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd as they journey into never-before-seen areas of the dangerous Lost World. The movie promises a fresh yet familiar ride, combining prehistoric chaos with new environments and characters.
Returning to lend their voices to the beloved characters are franchise regulars Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg. The Ice Age series, which began in 2002, has spawned five mainline films, a spin-off, and several shorts on Disney+. The last entry, Ice Age: Collision Course, released in 2016, grossed over $408 million worldwide. The franchise as a whole has earned more than $3.2 billion globally.
In addition to Boiling Point, Disney also revealed the title and release date for a new original animated feature, Hexed, from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Directed by Josie Trinidad (Zootopia+) and Jason Hand (Moana 2), the film follows an awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom who uncover magical powers that upend their lives and reveal a hidden world of magic.
Disney also teased other upcoming projects including Toy Story 5, Tron: Ares, and Zootopia 2, marking an exciting lineup for the years ahead.
