Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar lit up the runway on Day 5 of India Couture Week 2025 in New Delhi as she turned muse and showstopper for veteran designer Ritu Kumar. The celebrated designer unveiled her latest collection, “Threads of Time,” a tribute to heritage craftsmanship and evolving fashion sensibilities.
Bhumi dazzled in a golden lehenga, opting for a contemporary twist by pairing it with a blouse featuring a dramatic cape instead of a traditional dupatta. Her bold look was completed with a striking lip colour, dewy makeup, and exquisite jewellery—a pair of emerald studs and a diamond necklace highlighted by a central emerald stone.
Ritu Kumar, a stalwart of Indian fashion for over five decades, showcased a collection that blended the timelessness of traditional Indian textiles with modern silhouettes. “Fashion evolves with civilisation and the changing needs of the younger generation,” said Kumar, reflecting on the inspiration behind the collection. She emphasized that for her, fashion stems from instinct and an intuitive understanding of what suits the individual.
“Threads of Time” began with classic bridal themes and gracefully transitioned into more modern interpretations of wedding attire, echoing Kumar’s belief in clothing as a reflection of both memory and forward-thinking design.
On the professional front, Bhumi was recently seen in Netflix’s The Royals and is set to star in the upcoming web series Daldal.
