Taylor Swift has officially announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, following days of cryptic clues, including a countdown on her website that ended at 12:12 a.m. ET on the 12th of the month. The reveal came during her surprise appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, co-hosted with his brother Jason.
Billboards promoting the album quickly appeared in New York City and Nashville, leading fans to a Spotify playlist titled “And, baby, that’s show business for you,” hinting at the album’s theme.
This marks Swift’s first new studio album since The Tortured Poets Department and its companion The Anthology, both released in April 2024.
The announcement also follows a major career milestone — Swift’s purchase of the master recordings of her early catalog from Shamrock Capital, a move that allows her full ownership of the music initially released under Big Machine Records. “All I’ve ever wanted was to one day purchase my music outright,” Swift said, calling it her biggest dream come true.
Swift’s re-recording journey began in 2021 with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and continued with multiple albums. With the catalogue now in her hands, fans are eagerly awaiting the re-recorded versions of Reputation and her 2006 self-titled debut.
In another major moment, Madame Tussauds unveiled 13 Taylor Swift wax figures worldwide, inspired by her Eras Tour looks — a nod to her iconic presence across continents and eras.
