Jio Hotstar Likely to Bag Streaming Rights

After a thunderous run at the box office, animated mythological film Mahavatar Narasimha is now generating buzz over its digital release. The film, which premiered in cinemas on July 25 under the banner of Hombale Films, has emerged as a surprise blockbuster, outperforming several big-budget titles in just over a week.

Blending mythology with cutting-edge animation, the story of Lord Vishnu’s fourth avatar, Narasimha, and his devotee Prahlad has captivated audiences nationwide. The film, directed by Ashwin Kumar, has been especially praised for its visual effects and storytelling — a rare feat for animated projects in Indian cinema.

Despite its massive theatrical success, no official OTT deal had been locked in until recently. However, sources close to the industry indicate that the film is likely to make its streaming debut after the second week of September, aligning with the festive season of Navratri.

As per the reports, Jio Hotstar is in advanced talks to acquire the film’s digital rights, with plans to release it in Hindi to cater to a wider national audience. While an official announcement from the producers is still pending, fans can expect confirmation soon.

Produced on a modest budget of ₹15 crore, Mahavatar Narasimha has turned out to be a goldmine at the box office. In just 10 days, the film has raked in ₹91 crore, with ₹68 crore coming from the Hindi-speaking regions alone.

As fans eagerly await its OTT release, all eyes are on Jio Hotstar and Hombale Films for the final confirmation. Until then, the film continues to rule the silver screens and hearts alike.
