Returning fresh from the global spotlight of Paris Haute Couture Week, celebrated designer Rahul Mishra made a powerful comeback on the Indian runway with the unveiling of his latest collection, ‘Becoming Love’, at Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, presented in association with Reliance Brands and FDCI.
Setting the tone for the night was actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who opened the show in a breathtaking hand-embroidered Chérie floral gown, fusing grace with grandeur. Her appearance marked one of the most memorable moments of the season, seamlessly marrying star power with haute couture.
Rahul Mishra’s collection drew inspiration from the seven stages of love in Sufi philosophy—from initial attraction (dilkashi) to the final stage of annihilation (maut). This spiritual and emotional journey was translated into couture through rich narratives and intricate craftsmanship. “We don’t simply fall in love, we become it,” read the designer’s evocative show note.
On the runway, Mishra’s hallmark craftsmanship was on full display. Each piece stood as a canvas for exquisite Indian artisanal techniques—aari work, zardozi, naqshi, dabka, and delicate kundan and pearl embellishments. The designs paid homage not only to Indian traditions but also referenced the opulent aesthetic of Gustav Klimt, seamlessly blending Eastern and Western artistic languages.
