Manish Malhotra’s debut cinematic venture, Gustaakh Ishq – Kucch Pehle Jaisa, celebrated a poetic and nostalgic moment in the capital as its much-awaited trailer was launched at the Film Division Auditorium. Lead actors Fatima Sana Shaikh and Vijay Varma graced the press conference, adding warmth and charisma to the film’s romantic aura.

The event offered an intimate introduction to the world of Gustaakh Ishq, a film that revives the fading charm of shayris and old-school romance. As the trailer rolled, one particular verse drew overwhelming applause from the audience:

“Mera lehja cactus sa khurdura,
Teri baatein raat-rani ki tarah…
Gham koi dena hai toh de de mujhe,
Dil mein rakh loonga nishani ki tarah.”

Directed by Vibhu Puri, the film marks designer Manish Malhotra’s transition into production under his banner, Stage5 Production. His cinematic debut unfolds like a moving love letter, steeped in poetic pauses and lyrical storytelling that harks back to a time when conversations flowed in shayris and love lingered in unspoken glances.

In an age dominated by reels, hurried edits, and Gen-Z slang, Gustaakh Ishq consciously slows the pace, embracing softness, nostalgia, and expressive stillness. Whether it is “puraane zamaane ki mohabbat” or modern-day digital affection, the film suggests that love remains as deep as ever ,only its expression has evolved.

The effortless chemistry between Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh forms the emotional core of the narrative. Complementing their performances is the soulful music of Vishal Bhardwaj and the evocative lyrics of Gulzar, elevating the film’s poetic essence.

The star-studded cast features Naseeruddin Shah, Sharib Hashmi, and other celebrated performers, enriching the film’s emotional depth. Set against the atmospheric lanes of Purani Dilli and the fading kothis of Punjab, Gustaakh Ishq explores longing, unspoken desire, and timeless romance.

Produced by Manish Malhotra and Dinesh Malhotra, Gustaakh Ishq – Kucch Pehle Jaisa is set to release in theatres on 28th November.
