After a record-breaking theatrical run, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is now ready to bring its divine legend to living rooms across the world. The prequel to Rishab Shetty’s 2022 blockbuster Kantara will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from October 31, much to the excitement of fans who’ve been waiting to experience the cinematic spectacle on OTT.
The film will be available in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam on the same day, while the Hindi version will release a few days later. The makers have chosen to keep the Hindi OTT date under wraps for now, building intrigue around the film’s next big debut.
Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the mythological action-drama also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in pivotal roles. Produced by Hombale Films, the makers of KGF, the prequel expands the mystical world of Kantara diving deeper into the roots of faith, folklore, and divine justice that define its universe. 
Set during the Kadamba dynasty, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 explores the origins of Panjurli Daiva, the divine guardian spirit who protects the sacred forests of Kantara. As greed and power threaten to disturb the delicate harmony between man and nature, divine retribution awakens, weaving an intense tale of faith, destiny, and survival.
Made on a massive ₹125 crore budget, the film has emerged as one of 2025’s biggest success stories, amassing over ₹590 crore in 25 days at the Indian box office. Its success has already surpassed several Bollywood heavyweights, cementing Rishab Shetty’s place among India’s most powerful cinematic storytellers.
