Delhi Metro Tightens Rules: No Reels, No Loud Music on Board

Delhi Metro Tightens Rules: No Reels, No Loud Music on Board Delhi Metro Tightens Rules: No Reels, No Loud Music on Board

In a move aimed at enhancing the daily commute for lakhs of passengers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a new set of regulations discouraging the shooting of reels, dance videos, and other social media content within metro premises. The initiative, which came into effect on September 14, is now being rolled out across all metro lines, with full enforcement expected by the end of the week.

Regular commuters will now notice new bilingual announcements in both Hindi and English, alongside the standard messages about avoiding eating or sitting on the floor inside coaches. The new advisory states clearly:
“Filming reels, dance videos or any other such activities are strictly prohibited.”

While the Metro Railways Act, 2002 doesn’t explicitly mention social media activities like reel-making, DMRC officials confirmed that offenders may be fined under provisions related to creating a nuisance in public transport spaces.

“This step has been taken to ensure that fellow passengers are not inconvenienced due to such activity,” said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC.

In addition to regulating filming inside the metro, the DMRC has also launched a social media campaign urging passengers to avoid playing loud music in coaches. The broader initiative reflects the corporation’s ongoing efforts to make Delhi Metro travel more peaceful and commuter-friendly.

“These initiatives are being taken to make travelling by the Delhi Metro a comfortable experience,” Dayal added.

With increasing footfall and the rising influence of social media, the DMRC’s focus appears to be on maintaining order and respect for shared public space, ensuring smoother travel for all.
