Injectable beauty has a new poster child and it doesn’t involve Botox or fillers. Across India’s urban wellness circles, IV drips for glowing skin are fast becoming the next big thing, with luxury clinics and medispa lounges offering vitamin infusions that promise hydration, detox, and radiance from within.
Originally used in medical settings to treat dehydration and deficiencies, IV therapy has taken a glossy new turn, now marketed as a beauty shortcut that celebrities, influencers, and brides-to-be are swearing by. But how effective or safe, is it really?
Skin-focused IV drips typically contain a cocktail of ingredients like vitamin C, glutathione, biotin, zinc, magnesium, and B-complex vitamins, suspended in saline and delivered directly into your bloodstream for faster absorption. Some clinics even customize blends based on your lifestyle, skin concerns, and event deadlines.
The appeal is obvious: you sit for 30 to 60 minutes, and walk out feeling lighter, hydrated, and photo-ready. Many users report immediate brightness and energy, especially before events or after long work weeks. But doctors and dermatologists advise caution.
While IV therapy can provide short-term benefits particularly if you’re low on certain nutrients it’s far from a miracle fix. There’s limited clinical evidence supporting long-term skin improvement, and the glow often fades within a few days if not supported by consistent skincare, diet, and hydration.
More importantly, the procedure must be done under certified medical supervision. Unregulated salons and pop-up setups offering “beauty drips” on demand pose a serious risk, especially when ingredients like glutathione are involved, which can affect liver function if misused.
If you’re considering trying it, think of it as a supplement not a replacement. It might give you a temporary glow boost before your wedding or shoot, or help your system recover after a stressful month, but it won’t replace sunscreen, sleep, or your topical vitamin C serum.
The trend is real, and it’s rising especially in metros like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. But so is the need to be informed. Your skin may love the instant boost, but your body still prefers balance.
So before you book that drip, ask yourself: is it glowing skin you want or long-term skin health?
