A cultural tapestry of love, drama, and craft
This isn’t just a bag line. It’s Aprajita’s creative expression, brought to life in a limited-edition series of one-of-a-kind pieces from tiny satchels to the showstopping “body bags.” The collection draws from overlapping cultures across India and beyond, weaving together the artistic legacies of Afghanistan, Turkey, Kutch, Sindh, and the Balkans. Every bag carries a story, stitched with centuries of migration, memory, and shared traditions.
Aprajita laughs when asked about her inspiration: “Every woman knows that feeling, when what’s commercially available just doesn’t express who you are. I wanted to create something that could hold everything: the emotions, chaos, drama, and still feel like me.”

What makes these bags extraordinary is their cultural tapestry. Each piece is crafted from exquisite embroideries collected over the years, fabric patches hand-sourced during Aprajita’s travels, stitched together with the same intimacy as her childhood summers spent at her nani’s home. “Some people doodle to clear their minds,” she explains. “I stitch together fragments of fabric from around the world. This is my ode to the odd.”
Every bag embodies slow, intentional craftsmanship, handmade, never machine-made. The spirit of the collection echoes the 90s Bollywood era, dramatic, colourful, larger-than-life, designed for personalities bold enough to carry them.
Project Mehbooba will be available exclusively at the Aprajita Toor Studio in Mumbai, with plans to expand into jewellery and apparel collections every six months.
While Aprajita’s footwear line continues to drive her retail business, Project Mehbooba is pure creative joy, museum-worthy pieces made for those who crave the extraordinary.
