Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection drops one of its most eyebrow-raising designs yet: a handbag shaped like an Indian auto-rickshaw. Yes, you read that correctly. The global fashion house has turned the humble three-wheeler into a high-fashion statement, complete with LV’s iconic monogram, three tiny wheels, and a see-through windshield.
The “Rickshaw Bag” has quickly become the most talked-about piece from the collection, especially in India, where reactions range from amused disbelief to fashion-forward curiosity. While Louis Vuitton is known for pushing creative boundaries — with past designs inspired by airplanes, lobsters, and dolphins — this desi-inspired twist takes things to a whole new street-style-meets-runway level.
The bag debuted as part of a larger theme for the collection that featured gem-encrusted pieces and nature-driven motifs. But the India-inspired elements didn’t stop at the rickshaw. Also spotted on the runway were tong-style sandals reminiscent of the everyday footwear worn across Indian streets, giving many desis a strong sense of déjà vu — in designer form.
Hot on the heels of Prada’s Kolhapuri chappal moment at Milan Fashion Week earlier this year, Louis Vuitton’s Rickshaw Bag fuels the growing trend of Western luxury brands drawing from Indian street culture. While some applaud it as cultural homage, others question its intent — and its practicality.
