Major Infrastructure Push in J&K
In a landmark move expected to significantly bolster connectivity and infrastructure in the region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, on Friday. The structure, an engineering marvel standing taller than the Eiffel Tower, marks a pivotal moment in the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the national rail network.
The Prime Minister’s visit is not limited to the symbolic. Alongside the Chenab Bridge inauguration, Modi will flag off a new Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar — the first such semi-high-speed service in the Valley — improving mobility and reducing travel time for pilgrims and residents alike.
In what’s being described as a “massive infrastructure boost,” Modi will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate projects worth over ₹46,000 crore, spanning roads, rail, power, and tourism sectors. The projects are seen as a crucial step toward long-term development and employment generation in the Union Territory.
Locals and political observers alike are calling this a defining moment in J&K’s post-Article 370 development journey. With eyes on infrastructure, connectivity, and economic revival, the region appears poised to enter a new chapter of integration and investment.
