Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the global face of L’Oréal Paris and an undisputed icon of Indian cinema, made a striking second appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, turning heads once again with a look that seamlessly blended couture with culture.
This time, she wore a custom creation by renowned designer Gaurav Gupta titled Heiress of Clam—a dramatic off-shoulder black velvet gown intricately hand-embroidered to resemble an abstract cosmos. Accents of silver, gold, charcoal, and black came alive with micro glass crystals that sparkled like stars, capturing both dimension and movement under the Cannes lights.
Adding depth and symbolism to the ensemble was a regal brocade cape, handwoven in Varanasi, that trailed behind her in a shawl-inspired structure. The true highlight of this statement garment was the powerful Sanskrit shloka from the Bhagavad Gita inscribed on its back. Translated into English, the verse reads: “You have a right to perform your actions, but not to the fruits of those actions. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction.”

Styled by Allia Al Rufai, Aishwarya embodied timeless grace and confidence. Her look was completed with classic vintage Hollywood glamour: luminous skin, bold eye makeup, her signature red lips, and soft, glossy waves that added an ethereal touch to her overall appearance.
The 78th Cannes Film Festival is on till May 24 and has seen an array of celebrities from across the world come together to celebrate cinema.
