Celebrated filmmaker Quentin Tarantino made a striking return to the Croisette on Tuesday night as he stepped onto the red carpet for the opening ceremony of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The Pulp Fiction director, known for his dynamic energy and cinematic passion, was invited as this year’s guest of honor.
Tarantino took to the stage during the gala’s opening night, bringing his trademark charisma to the prestigious event. Later, he was seen posing affectionately with his wife, Daniella Pick, wrapping his arms around her as the couple smiled for photographers. The pair were also spotted earlier in the day arriving hand-in-hand at a hotel near the festival grounds, with Tarantino flashing a peace sign to the press.
The filmmaker’s presence at Cannes this year is tied to his admiration for 20th-century Western director George Sherman. Tarantino is set to participate in discussions surrounding Sherman’s legacy, as two of the director’s films—Comanche Territory and Red Canyon—will be screened in the Cannes Classics section.
Tarantino’s history with Cannes runs deep. He won the coveted Palme d’Or in 1995 for Pulp Fiction, and nearly a decade later, returned as jury president in 2004. His reappearance in 2025 adds yet another chapter to his long-standing relationship with the festival.
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival, which began on May 13, will continue through May 24.
