Prioritizes National Sentiment Over Box Office…
Maddock Films has decided to skip the theatrical release of its much-anticipated family drama Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. Originally set to hit theatres on May 9, 2025, the film will now premiere directly on Prime Video on May 16.
The unexpected decision follows the Indian Army’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which led to the destruction of nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation, conducted just a day before the film’s scheduled release, sparked a wave of national pride and heightened security awareness across the country.
Acknowledging the prevailing mood and increased security drills, Maddock Films and co-producer Amazon MGM Studios issued a joint statement on social media. The note expressed their intent to bring the film “directly to your homes” while emphasizing, “The spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind.”
Lead actors Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi took to Instagram Stories to express their gratitude and respect for the armed forces following the operation.
Directed and written by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf also stars Seema Pahwa and is produced by Dinesh Vijan. Known for backing successful projects, Maddock Films has already made waves this year with films like Chhaava and Sky Force.
The comedy-drama will now be available for streaming on Prime Video worldwide starting next Friday, May 16.
