Shoojit Sircar’s groundbreaking comedy ‘Vicky Donor’ is all set to make a grand comeback to theatres on April 18, 2025. The cult-favourite film, which marked the debut of Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam, is being re-released as a curated offering by PVR-INOX, giving audiences a chance to relive the film that redefined Bollywood storytelling over a decade ago.
The announcement was made on Monday by director Shoojit Sircar, who took to Instagram to share the emotional update. “VICKY DONOR rereleasing on 18th April. PVR-INOX CURATED SHOWS. A tribute to our dear friends Jayanta Das and Akshay Verma,” he wrote, remembering two late members of the film’s team.
John Abraham, who made his debut as a producer with Vicky Donor, also expressed his joy over the film’s return to cinemas.“My debut film as a producer is back on the big screen this weekend–April 18th! A bold, ahead-of-its-time story with a message that still hits home,” he wrote on Instagram, calling it a collaboration to remember with Sircar, writer Juhi Chaturvedi, and the unforgettable cast. 
Originally released in 2012, Vicky Donor tackled the then-taboo topic of sperm donation and infertility with humour, sensitivity, and heart. It catapulted Ayushmann and Yami into the limelight and earned critical acclaim as well as box office success.
The film went on to bag three National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, a testament to its impactful storytelling.
The stellar ensemble cast also includes Annu Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia, Tarun Bali, Krishna Singh Bisht, and Swaroopa Ghosh — each delivering memorable performances that helped make Vicky Donor a landmark film in modern Hindi cinema.
