Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has officially announced the release date for his much-awaited film Awarapan 2, which is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. The actor made the announcement on Monday.
Taking to Instagram, Emraan shared a promo from the hit 2007 film Awarapan and wrote, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026 (sic).” The announcement comes as a special gift for his fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the sequel to the cult classic.
Awarapan 2 is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt. The film will continue the gripping saga of redemption, action, and love that captivated audiences in the original.

The first Awarapan (2007), directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, became a standout action thriller in Bollywood. Starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, the film also featured Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. The story followed Shivam (played by Emraan Hashmi), a brooding hitman working for a ruthless gangster, Malik (Ashutosh Rana). Sent to keep an eye on Malik’s mistress, Reema (Mrinalini Sharma), Shivam’s life is turned upside down when he discovers her desire for freedom and love. The film beautifully explored themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
Known for its intense storytelling, gritty action sequences, and soulful music by Pritam, Awarapan earned critical acclaim for Emraan Hashmi’s compelling performance and its hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. Inspired by the South Korean movie A Bittersweet Life, Awarapan gained a cult following over the years.
