Bollywood actor and UNEP Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza was felicitated as a Global Woman Icon at the 5th edition of the BRICS CCI WE Annual Women’s Summit & Felicitations 2025.
A Commemorative Book- She for Her celebrating Global Women Changemakers was also unveiled at the Summit by the Hon’ble Delhi Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta and Former Cabinet Minister Smt. Smriti Irani.

Addressing an audience of global women changemakers, Dia Mirza emphasized the importance of sustainability and gender inclusivity, stating, “Women are the backbone of sustainable development. It is imperative to integrate eco-consciousness into leadership narratives.” She highlighted the need for systemic change, addressing gender pay parity and the evolving role of women in industries like cinema. “The world we live in is largely patriarchal, and it is important for us to reclaim our place and achieve financial independence—but without forgetting that our innate voice is love and empathy.”
Announcing Dia’s felicitation Ms. Ruby Sinha, President, BRICS CCI WE, said, “In the last two decades Dia Mirza has grown as a multifaceted achiever and a powerful champion of environmental sustainability and biodiversity, a true trailblazing global woman changemaker.”
Trailblazer IPS Officer Dr. Kiran Bedi was felicitated with as the Global Woman Icon (Lifetime Achievement) at the Summit. Global Women Icons felicitated included H.E. Ms. Bizunesh Meseret, Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Ethiopia, Ms. Lebogang Zulu: National Chairperson – BRICS Women’s Business Alliance South Africa; Ms. Chiou See Anderson, Head of Delegation W20 Australia, Ms. Geovana Quadros, Líder de Gênero Startup20 – Task Force ESG; G20 Brasil 2024; PRESIDENT AT INSPIRING WOMEN, Dr. Sulochana Segera, Chairperson, Women in Management (WIM), Ms. Elena Shifrina, CEO/Founder, BioFoodLab, Ms. Tatiana Seliverstova, Director of the International Acceleration Program “BRICS Business Incubator” and “SCO Business Incubator,” and other eminent names. The Summit also saw the presence of Former Cabinet Minister, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi and official representatives from Embassies of several countries.
